What your car is actually worth
Nobody can price a car properly without knowing a few things about it, and any buyer who throws a number at you before asking is either guessing or planning to change it in your driveway. Here is what actually moves the price on a Douglasville pickup:
- Weight and completeness. A junk car is priced largely as scrap steel, and scrap is sold by the ton. A full-size truck is worth more than a compact for the same reason a full car is worth more than one that has been picked over.
- Whether the catalytic converter is still on it. This is usually the single most valuable part under the car. If it has been cut off — and in this part of the metro that happens a lot — the offer drops, so tell us up front and the quote stays the quote.
- Whether it runs and rolls. A car that starts, steers and has four inflated tires is faster to load. One sitting on rotors in soft ground behind a house is a winch job, and that shows up in the price.
- Year, make and model. Some vehicles are worth more in parts than in scrap. A 2014 Silverado with a blown engine and a 2001 Civic with a good one are two different conversations.
- Title in hand or not. A clean Georgia title in your name is the cleanest, fastest sale and it is worth money to you.
Call with the year, make, model, and an honest description of what is wrong with it, and you get a real number on that call. The number we quote is the number you get, as long as the vehicle is what you described. We do not send a driver out to renegotiate in your driveway.
How it works
- Tell us about the car. Call, or fill in the form at the bottom of this page. Year, make, model, where it is sitting in Douglasville, and what is wrong with it.
- Take the offer, pick a time. If the number works, we schedule pickup. Same-day is normal — call in the morning and there is a good chance the truck is there that afternoon.
- Get paid at the curb. The driver checks the vehicle over, you sign the title, and you are paid on the spot. Towing is free and comes out of nothing — it is not deducted from your offer.
What we buy in Douglasville
- Cars, trucks, vans, SUVs and crossovers, any make
- Wrecked and totaled vehicles, including insurance write-offs
- Non-runners: blown engines, bad transmissions, no keys, dead for years
- Flood and storm damage
- Cars with high mileage, failed emissions, or repairs worth more than the car
- Box trucks, work vans, and commercial vehicles — single units or a whole yard of them
- RVs, campers, and specialty vehicles (call on these, they are priced case by case)
If it has been sitting behind the house since before you moved in, we will still take it. Age and condition are not disqualifiers here; they are just inputs to the price.
Paperwork: what Georgia asks of you
This is the part people put off, and it is genuinely less work than it looks.
The title
For a 1986-or-newer vehicle, Georgia expects a title signed over at the time of sale, and your name should be the one on it. Bring a photo ID that matches. Vehicles from model year 1985 and older do not require a title in Georgia — a bill of sale and your registration carry the sale instead.
If you cannot find the title
You can replace it. Take a completed Form MV-1 and a photo ID to the Douglas County Tag Office at 6200 Fairburn Road, Douglasville, GA 30134 (770-920-7272). The duplicate-title fee is $8, and an in-person application typically comes back in about 7–10 business days.
If waiting is not realistic, call us anyway. Depending on the vehicle and what you can show for ownership — registration, a notarized bill of sale, a lien release — we can often still buy it. That is a conversation, not a guarantee, and it is worth having before you assume you are stuck.
Liens
If there was ever a loan on the car, the lender needs to have released it. A lien release from the lienholder clears this, and it needs to be in hand before the sale, not after.
Your tag and your insurance — in this order
Take the license plate off the car before we tow it. The plate belongs to you, not to the vehicle, and you can move it to your next car or turn it in. Then cancel the registration through the Georgia DRIVES e-Services site — before you cancel the insurance. Georgia requires continuous insurance on a registered vehicle, and doing these two in the wrong order is how people end up with a lapse fine on a car they no longer own.
Before the truck arrives
- Clear personal belongings out, glovebox and trunk included
- Pull the garage remote and any toll transponder off the windshield
- Have the title and your ID together in one place
- Make sure the driver can actually reach the car — gate codes, a blocked-in second car, a locked yard
Where we tow in Douglasville
Anywhere in the city and anywhere in Douglas County. In practice that means the neighborhoods off Chapel Hill Road and around Arbor Place, the Bill Arp Road corridor south of town, Fairburn Road and downtown Douglasville, Dorsett Shoals, Mount Vernon, Stewart Mill, the Highway 92 side toward Hiram, and the Thornton Road end near Lithia Springs. Winston, Villa Rica and Austell are on the same runs.
We tow from driveways, back yards, apartment lots, storage yards, body shops, and the side of the road. Two things to know: if the car is on property you do not own — an apartment complex, a rental, someone else's yard — get the owner's or manager's okay first, and if you have had a letter from city code enforcement or your HOA about an inoperable vehicle in view, tell us. That is a deadline, and we will work to it.
Common questions
How much will you pay for my junk car?
It depends on weight, completeness, whether the catalytic converter is still attached, and what the vehicle is. That is why we quote on the phone after a few questions rather than posting a flat number. The quote is firm for the vehicle you describe.
Can you buy it if I do not have the title?
Often, yes — it depends on the vehicle's age and what proof of ownership you can produce. A 1985-or-older vehicle does not need one at all in Georgia. For newer vehicles, a duplicate title is $8 and about 7–10 business days from the Douglas County Tag Office on Fairburn Road. Call and we will tell you honestly which path is faster for your situation.
It has not started in years and the tires are flat. Still a problem?
No. Most of what we buy does not run. Our trucks winch. Just tell us the car will not roll or steer so the right truck comes out.
Do I pay anything for towing?
No. Towing is free, and it is not quietly subtracted from your offer. There are no fees at all on your side of this — you take cash away from the transaction, not a bill.
How fast can you get to Douglasville?
Same-day is the normal case. Call early and the truck is often out that afternoon; call late in the evening and it is usually the next morning. We answer 7 days a week, 5AM to 10PM.
How do I get paid?
Cash, in hand, at pickup — before the car goes on the truck. No mailed check, no "we will settle up after it is weighed."
Do you buy more than one at a time?
Yes. Fleet turnover, a shop clearing out non-runners, an estate with three cars behind the house — call and we will price the group and schedule one trip.
